Language in mountains
Today I
am writing on the Language barriers that people observe when they move in hilly areas
Yes, it's true that due to various languages being spoken
by the people of hilly areas they are not comfortable even among themselves , outside
of range min. 15km distance from their village
The north Indian state of Himachal
Pradesh brings in
millions of tourists from across the world every year, owing to its captivating
scenery. Characterized by snow-clad mountains and serene natural beauty, this
Abode of Snow is home to hundreds of villages, all beautiful in their own right.
Pahari is a language used by the majority of people here
and it is derived from Sanskrit (the oldest language of the country )Apart from
these languages Himachal Pradesh is flourished with several trible
languages/Dialects.
Since the Hindi language is the official state language
and about 26 local languages are being used by the state's people for
communication among themselves. But apart from this, there are more languages
and dialects in the states which make it even more perplex.
After every 10-15km different local dialect/accent
descries and if you are hearing it first time surely you would not get anything.
There is a word which I could recall that is 'THOKO' which
is a famous word and dialogue of cricket /Politician Navjot Singh Siddu but
there are many places in Himachal where this word is not acceptable as it meant
as an abusive one.
Toughest Language/Dialect in Himachal is Kinnauri
followed by Lahuli and then Kulluvi . No one can understand these
languages except merely these area’s people.
So this is the only state where the people are able to
understand HINDI language rather than their own language.
As most of the people understand Hindi language but if
you will move towards villages of Himachal you surely will feel the complexity
than trekking the vertiginous mountain.
Himachali people are known for their honesty and
hospitality that’s why people love to come here for exploring the
places/rituals /Deity powers /weather etc.
People choose Himachal for a visit when they get Sick of the summer sun
